Erik Nelson
Foreman
Erik Nelson, aka Nelson, is a colorful character originally from Duluth, MN. Among his previous work experience, he owned an insurance agency, was a baker in a bakery (he made specialty cookies), and a salesman at a home construction company. He started at Rock Solid in February 2018 and became a foreman in the Fall of 2020. Noteworthy projects he’s been on, as hand crew and machine operator include: Giants Ridge, Redhead, and Tofte-Lutsen in the summer; and Slaughterpen, Fitzgerald and Mt. Nebo in the winter. In fact, he got to be a part of building every trail at Mt. Nebo, phases 1+2.
He’s a big Nebo fan and would go back not only to work there again, but to get to ride top to bottom laps on the regular. Other favorite trails/builds include the Jackpot trail in Tofte-Lutsen, and Granite Gorge at Giants Ridge. It’s that techy downhill style of riding with mixed-in flow that is his favorite and you’ll find him building exactly that along with his trail dog Artemis!
