Kyle Copeland

Foreman

Kyle Copeland, known as ‘Copes’, is originally from Nunica, MI, where he grew up with centered in biking and snowboarding. At first, his riding consisted of bmx with friends and digging for fun whenever possible. He began mountain biking around 18 years old, when he borrowed his dad’s mountain bike and rode on his friend’s track. Its correspondence to snowboarding quickly drew him in, and he liked that he could still be in the woods. Kyle attended Compass College as a film major and worked in the film industry for a while; however, he eventually became tired of the industry and went to work in Holland MI with Parks and Rec., where he managed bike paths, grounds keeping, and arborist duties. When he joined Rock Solid in the Fall of 2017, he carried many of those skills he still wanted to learn and already knew to trail building.

He started at Giants Ridge in late fall 2017 for only 3 days before he went to Arkansas and worked on the Back 40 and Fitzgerald. Some other projects he’s worked on for us include Giants Ridge, CH, Tofte, Little Sugar, Nebo phase 1, Redhead, Tioga rec area, Centennial Park, Lacrosse, Grand Dad Bluff, Cuyuna, and Devils Den. He enjoys utilizing rock by hand and in an excavator to make trails, especially the flat rocks in Arkansas. He enjoys riding fast technical DH trails like those in Sprit Mountain or Windrock bike park. His favorite trails are challenging, steep, rocky and with drops.
