Jake Carsten

Director of Planning

Jake has been leading the planning and design efforts at Rock Solid since 2018 and currently calls Austin, TX his home base. Prior to joining Rock Solid, he accrued over 13 years of experience managing consulting teams and facilitating strategic transformations on US and global business software implementations with IBM Business Consulting Services and DA Consulting Group. He started his career in the bike industry working for the IMBA Trail Care Crew in 2011 and has since taught the IMBA Trail Building School over 40 times. He has attended training courses through PTBA and worked with and learned from a variety of other top designers and trail building firms in the industry. 
Jake was the owner of Dirt Dojo LLC (founded 2012), executing trail planning and trail construction contracts including site assessment, conceptual planning, field design, and trail construction. Jake specializes in helping our clients to identify their project goals and vision, assessing property feasibility, and designing both conceptual and on-the-ground master plans that align with our client’s vision, budget, and planned trail user experiences. Jake has performed site assessment, conceptual planning, and trail layout activities on key Arkansas projects such as Fitzgerald Mountain (Springdale, AR), Mt Nebo State Park, Millsap Mountain, Kessler Mountain, Mount Magazine State Park, and Devil’s Den State Park.
